What would you put in a time capsule?

Put Bush in a time capsule? I feel sorry for the future. Then again, if he traveled back in time after he got there he might change his mind about...certain environmental policies.

I have a better idea. Put Bush in a second time capsule and send that one into a permanent orbit so that he won't ever come back until somebody comes along and picks him up out of the sky.

Or you could just use the usual method of preserving time capsules and bury him.

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Jul 6, 2001
Someone suggested the human genetic code. It is likely that in 5000 years, this will still be available. I suggest we put in the complete genetic code for some of the animals we are about to wipe off the planet: the aye-aye, the tiger, the black rhino, the orang-utan ... the list goes on. How many could you fit on a DVD? I think the human DNA is about 1GB. I'm sure the others are much the same.
A second DVD should include as much as possible of the complete music of the three B's: Bach, Beethoven and the Beatles.

If they have the technology to safely land the spaceship, then they should be able to figure out a DVD. I presume the spaceship will be programmed to return to Earth orbit and signal its presence, rather than crash-landing somewhere where no-one will ever find it.

A Barbie and an Action Man (cos everyone knows Ken was batting for the oposition) ... that should suffice.

No coz if Barbie was scaled up to RL size she wouldn't be able to stand up straight due to her exagerated proportions!

The council buried a time capsule in the grounds of our church today (so it wouldn't get dug up to be built on) and put such terribly interesting things in it as;
The names of people in our local business improvements group,
pictures of our councillors,
etcetc
I had never seen any of these people from the council in our church, but the minute they wanted to dig up our grounds, they all turned up to explain to us how nice it was...
I thought about digging the time capsule up under the cover of night and putting more interesting things in, but it's sacred ground and also probably illegal so I probably won't.
Dastardly
