I have proposed to the editors of this noble tome the idea of a regular on-demand radio show for h2g2. However, the comments of the researchers are always importent and I would welcome your feedback. If you wish to talk amongst your selves, please add to this conversation. But, if you have any specific ideas or comments for me, please add to the conversation on my page: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F65095?thread=107292 In the second radio series of HHGTTG news from the "Ethernet" made occasional appearences. Funny, biting and always slightly sureal. Lets hear what you think! Guru Bear

I for one think this would be a great idea - dunno how Our Glorious Benefactors (c/o Broadcasting House) would take it, though?

I thought they were in Bush house - but them I may have missed something.
NO, I dont know how they would take it either, but certainly Peta and Ant are keen.
Cost wise it is manageable, especially if I can have some content volunteers - perhaps from the h2g2 Post as much as anywhere.

I wasn't thinking of delving into a music show, since that is pretty well covered out there anyway.
I was more thinking on the lines of an anarchic news program with a mixture of proper interesting stuff and sketches.
I was part of the production team that did a series on Radio One called Bits From Last Weeks Radio. It was meant to be selections of mad pieces of radio from round the world, but in reality we made them all up. However it showed that you can go truly left of field with enough enthusiasm and some creative writing and production.
The Beeb is looking out there for new talent, especially comedy, maybe part of this could be a good way to let people have a go at some writing.
The show would be on-demand and we would start with a 20 to 30 minute offering. Anything more than that would take some serious cash adn I doubt me that the beeb would come up with the goods.
Having said that there is an argument for a speech based station that is rather LESS serious than Radio 4 and would allow the feel of the pirate and the anarchy of Wolfman, while actually conveying across some seriously useful information. But me thinks that is outside of this conversation, for now...

I think D. Adams might have something to say about playing episodes from the HHTTG series, and I doubt it would be incredibly encouraging (I might be wrong, but I would think that he would like to keep control of his copyright ...!)
But, what he started, and what he aluded to in the second series with regards to News on the Sub-Ether band, I think could have a role to play here.
Keep on commenting!
