Anybody there for a NYC meeting in May?

Post 1

Monsignore Pizzafunghi Bosselese

I'm going to stay on holidays in NYC from 13May till 25May. Is there any chance for a Real Life H2G2 Meeting anywhere around in this time (but not 15/16May)? Any volunteers to arrange things & such?

C'mon, gimme positive feedback please!

Hello,

Well, I'm in and out of NYC in the month of May. I can't really organize anything, but I should be able to attend (unless I'm out of town). I think we have a few researchers here, and maybe someone could organize something. Unless we're too busy being jaded and blase all night at the diner... it's hard work being disaffected. smiley - winkeye

Yours,
Jake

A few months ago a few of us tried to get together but we ended up all being very busy and not able to get it together but if we can work it out I would be interested.

Hi peoples! I may be interested in your little get-together.

Courtney, I think the problem with the last time was that it was planned for a weeknight, and right around Thanksgiving IIRC. I work nights, so I can't come then ... smiley - sadface

I've put up the same question on the 'Future Events' page at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F53684?thread=106783, so we should keep an eye there as well...

I've suggested Friday 18, and all that it needs is a place to go to! Does anybody should know something better than below Brooklyn Bridge?

Saturday's not good for me either, I'm taking my Dad to Shea to catch the Mets vs. Dodgers game! smiley - winkeye

Sunday's actually better for me ... if nobody else can make it then, I'd be more than happy to meet you at the Met or something ...

Well, if you want to play bingo, I'll have to do some research ... smiley - winkeye

umm, not *that* bingo smiley - winkeye
nor did I mean the other bingo, also known as bulls**t bingo which is my favourite game for boring business meetings: make up a table full of all the buzz words of your business, like:
A1 = cooperation
A2 = synergy
...
(fill in the rest as appropriate)
...
H8 = teamwork

Hand out a copy of this table to as many of your team mates as you like.
Now, as soon as you hear somebody use one of the buzz words, you check the appropriate box in your table. And as soon as you have got five marks in a row / column / diagonal, you may stand up and shout (really, shout!) BULLS**T!
First one to do this is the winner!

bingo? smiley - winkeye

And I'd use it too ... might have to change the name though ... got another one of those Harrassment Policies Update emails ... our policies kinda remind me of the Moderator policies around here! smiley - tongueout

Erm, are you working in some kind of harassment business? smiley - winkeye

reminds me of a headline in our newspaper: 'police in search of a man who harasses people in the city park' -- Always makes me want to reply with 'err, should I send in my application?'

Nah ... I just work for a very big company that has to be extremely careful. But it's made for some silly rules: you can't tell someone else a joke that anyone may find offensive just in case someone else may overhear you and be offended ... that sort of thing.

aah, thank you!
So, to come back to the topic, it seems there aren't too many NY researchers who are interested in a meet-up?

Hello,

Well, I'm going to actually be out of town that weekend, so I'm afraid I can't make it.
