A Conversation for FANTASY FOOTBALL - Season 12 - "Say No to Mafia Bucks"
FF12 - Week 2
GreyDesk Started conversation Aug 15, 2004
We're dropping down a division to the, umm, 'Championship' for this week's matches.
Surely I can't be the only one who feels a touch of embarrassment in referring to the second tier of English football by that name
Anyway, your matches are as follows...
QPR v Derby County
Wigan Athletic v Brighton
Leeds Utd v Nottingham Forest
Plymouth Argylev Sunderland
Coventry City v Watford
All predictions to be in by 12noon on Saturday, 21st August. Ta very much

I note Martin Samuel in the Times is refusing to use the new Division names, and has gone back to Premiership (which means 'first' anyway, he argues), Division 2, Division 3 and Division 4.

My mate from work reckons that Coventry have got Millwall at he weekend and not Watford, they confirmed this on BBc Sport, has there been a mistake GD.

Oh bollocks, BBCi have well and truly f*cked this up
I can tell you that the 'Championship' fixtures page *definitely* said that Coventry were playing Watford when I set this week's matches. I know, as right now I'm looking at the print out of that page as I took it last Friday.
Right, the only solution is to drop that game from this week's list and we'll have six games for the week after.

I'm happy with that, wasn't sure about that game. Won't poist my predictions just yet though.

So what match should be match five and can we alter predictions accordingly. After all I do have Milwall down to win the league, even though I used to live in the shadow of Highfield Road.

GreyDesk Posted Aug 18, 2004
The 'Coventry v Watford' match, or match 5 in the list is off. This week will be out of 4 matches.
The reason for not substituting it with an alternative match is that folk aren't guaranteed to notice it. Look at SBE's effort above. In addition some folk who have already made their predictions may nott visit this thread again until after the matches are played, so they would never see the substitution.
I'm mildly annoyed about this whole thing, as this does mean a lot more work for me. Yes, there is a slight saving of my time for this week - marking four is easier than marking five. However for the following week when there are six games, this will be tricky. All of my systems are set up for five games and adding just one will up the time it takes me to do the marking etc by at least 50%.
