Hi lil, I just popped into this thread as the title "computer" got my attention, just thought I would let you know that the USB cable, that I bought from EBay, arrived today, and I managed to hook it up and transfer some photos from my mobile phone to my lap-top

PS, Cost was £4 Inc. P&P, but £14.99 in the phone shop

I get my Hubby to sort things out for me..

Although my compact digital camera's details are loaded onto the computer, I bought a h**a USB 2.0 card reader 19 in 1 - so my DSLR and phone + Daughter's phone can upload pics without the need to load individual software.

I've wondered - do they work faster than hooking the camera to the computer, and using Scanner and Camera Wizard?

Hi there Moonhogg! I don't think they work faster; but I didn't want to confuse the PC by installing too many camera software items.

My compact digital; when plugged into the USB port, automatically loads Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 and transferes the pics there. I don't know where the scanner/camera wizard comes into it - it doesn't on my PC.

I do find the card reader quite handy. I bought it when I went to college last year to learn how to manipulate pictures; and found my camera software was not compatible with the colleges computers.

I have noticed that with Vista I don't need to load any drivers (Disc that comes with the item) as Vista has all that pre-loaded
The lap-top has a 2.0 USB ports so is a lot faster to transfer.

I have noticed that the camera on my phones has about the same Pixels as the web cam, so the quality does suffer when you show the pictures on Full Screen, but ideal for them digital picture display units that show all your photos in a rotation
