Paganmoon - Crazy as Ever

Raise your glasses ladies and gentlemen... A toast to Christopher Reeve... Passed over Sunday 11th October 2004... Yes he played Superman, but he was indeed truely a super-man..
Paralized in 1995 after a riding accident he never gave up...
May the gods bless you Chris...
A truely sad loss... smiley - stiffdrinksmiley - cheers

Julie (AKA Ann Maurice...the motto is, lighten, brighten, declutter and accessorise)

He certainly was, I read his autobiography a few years ago and he had me in tears at the courage he possessed. He was one of my heros in the films and it was a shock when he had the accident, it saddens me to think that he's passed on at such a young age. He may not have fully realised the impact that he had on so many people whom he'd never even met, and for the lives he changed with his charity work.

God Bless Chris, and God Bless your family and friends smiley - peacedovesmiley - lovesmiley - rose

Mighty Joe Young

I read a comment about the death of John Peel.

The person commenting him called him a 'HERO'.

Whilst it is true that John Peel battled his own illness, I think it's a bit over the top calling him a hero, especially given that there are literally millions of people in the world who are in an equal if not worse state than he was.

I know dead is as bad as it gets, but what I mean is that there are people who live with horrific illnesses and injuries.

A young man on TV recently had a medical condition that caused his skin to blister and fall off. 36 year old Jonny Kennedy was an extraordinary man with a terrible condition - Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa.

He faced each day with no prospect of anything other than suffering. He died fighting to the end and still displaying the sense of humour that kept him going throughout his short agonising life.

Christopher Reeve also fought bravely against all odds to regain his former life, albeit unsuccessfully, and also inspired those more fortunate to contribute to making a better life for others.

Both Jonny Kennedy and Christopher Reeve are not at rest, as they are still working in the minds of all of us.

I am disabled, I spend most of my time in pain, but one thing I know for certain is this... I would rather have a lifetime as me than a minute as Jonny Kennedy.

One thing both he and Christopher Reeve have emphasised for me is that no matter how bad things appear to be...

It could always be worse.

Joe.
