Hm. I suspect it's not a longer sentence because looking a little deeper all of the children were over 13.

I was a 13 year old girl once. When older men are interested in you it's hard not to be flattered. I'm glad he's been discovered and dealt with. He wont be able to work with youngsters again which is excellent news, and all of the young people in the area will have learned a valuable lesson about assuming things about people.

For the people he abused, it's going to be tough for a while but it will most likely be ok and they will certainly learn to protect themselves first and foremost. For the people who weren't abused by him but have heard about him, or who's friends knew him etc. Maybe they wont be so willing to just assume that people are trustworthy, especially when conversations start going in directions they aren't comfortable with.

If only it were so, Robyn. But it ain't, it would seem, judging by the mistakes that authorities make from time to time and that the press delight in spreading across the media
