Blimey, as someone who loves Christmas I can see that that is a bit early. I am sure when I was at school they didn't put Christmas decorations up too soon.

And there's plenty of pressure to enjoy it all.
I've been trying to work out how to work on Xmas and Boxing days

Well, why not make money out of the people who aren't working that day!?!?

Because going around neighbourhoods singing badly in a patent attempt to make money out of something that is false and that you in likely hood understand to be false while violating the sanctity of the aural environs of innocent bystanders is just low and obnoxious.

Well, it's the only job I can think of other than volunteer work (ooh! Samaritans hit high pressure this time of year!) to suggest. And carol singers sometimes bring warmth and a glow of seasonal spirit to the people they sing for, regardless of the religious intent or content.

There are plenty of service establishments that are open on Christmas Day. Can you get temporary work there? Many hotels/restaurants offer Christmas lunch/dinner, and those tables won't clear themselves, you know!

I this year am on standby poised at the ready to be called into work.
the job i do and many others is to take emergency telephone calls for one of the electric company’s and i look forward to taking calls from polite happy people full of festive cheer. Who don’t understand that electric is not god given and not a Guaranteed service

Blimey, there are some unhappy people in one part of UK.
A gas main blew up and the blast blew up the pylon cables above so people were without, and may still be, gas AND electricity in that area!
.
An unhappy Christmas for many sadly.....
