You're either spamming or have been deceived. When you receive such a warning you should always copy the relevant bits (the 'virus' name and context) and search it: you'll usually find many, many sites telling you it's a scam dating back a couple of years. Then pop links to a couple of the whistleblower sites in a reply back to the person that warned you and ask them to check before spamming their friends' inboxes with such tripe in future.

Yesterday I got a warning about a Post Card that should not be opened. That was a virus I was told.
Later I had a long lecture about going to unknown links and downloading stuff that people send and making myself vulnerable to trojan horses.
Then tonight Norton Internet Security actually sent a Trojan Horse to go off at 10pm and then Norton said that unless I paid £33 subscription the virus could take over my puter. Bad Norton bad bad.

What comes first the virus or Norton, I don't know if they put a virus scare around to make you keep them, or if the virus creeps in and tries to make you fed up with your security and get rid of it.

I have heard that, as Nortons is the most popular AV program, designers of viruses etc will specifically design them to overcome Nortons.
I used to use Nortons and my coomputer crashed - when I had it investigated they found that it was riddled with stuff that had crept in via Nortons. I am always very virus aware so this was shocking to me, I immediately uninstalled Nortons and changed to Command AV - haven't had any problems since (touch wood) and it certainly picks up quite a few.
