Pretty ironic, isn't it, that little gif that has me popping out of an Easter Egg when I was really born on Halloween? ... Well...
When I first made that gif I did consider hatching myself from a pumpkin... but those don't roll as easily.
Then I thought about hatching a pumpkin from the egg and then me from the pumpkin, but that was just too much.
I even drew the pumpkin.. Kinda. It's okay (for a non-artist), but the color scheme really clashed!
So as I sat in my little quandry, hand on the little me beside the keyboard , evaluating the perplexing problem of mixing my metaphoric holidays ... I thought..
Oh the heck with it. Easter eggs are prettier and they're easier to draw.

More irony: The fact that mice don't generally spring out of any kind of egg or shell in the first place. But a valiant effort nonetheless.

It's amusing, but it's not ironic. More Byronic than ironic. Irony is different - irony carries a hint of tragic perversity, whereas this is a curoosity but not perverse or tragic. Just so you know

ironic adj:

2: given to irony
ironic n:
1: the use of words to express the opposite of what one really means
2: incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the expected results.
Just so you know.

Ack! Of course, that second definition is irony, not ironic. *duh*

OK, so how would it be ironic having a mouse coming out of an easter egg at halloween? Mixed up, yes, but not ironic as I understand the word.
p.s: I believe that 126,394 angels can dance on the head of a pin.

Would you -expect- a mouse that was born on Halloween to have a portrait done of him/her popping from a symbol of another holiday all together? Thought not.

The mouse, of course. The egg animation only came into being weeks after the mouse was on the 'front' page.

Errr..., is Easter generally considered to be the opposite of Halloween then?

Ah, how nice. You can't make an Easter egg breathe fire though. Well, you could try but I don't think it would work very well.

You'd be amazed at what even a tiny bit of majik will do..
Unfortunately, my artistic talents contain nary a smidgeon. *sigh*

May I interject a point?.....Thanks, I didn't think you'd mind!
Easter and Halloween are not opposites. In their original form they had nothing to do with Christianity. Halloween was the night the spirits of the dead roamed the earth.....costumes and such were used to scare them away from the mortals. Easter was a celebration of Spring. Welcoming back the resurection the warm days created.
The Catholic church, in their quest to convert the Pagan Celts, adopted the holidays and created their own myths to support their cause. I must say, it worked quite well for them!

I didn't even know Halloween -was- supposed to be a Xtian holiday until long after my trick-or-treating days were over. And even when I learned it was 'All Hallows Eve' I still assumed it had something to do with Sleepy Hollow and the Headless Horseman.
That being said, I still don't consider either of them religious holidays. Easter is when the older kids get to paint eggs and the younger ones get to go outside hunting for them. Halloween is when they dress up and go toilet paper trees and put outhouses on the public square and.. erm.. well.. you get the picture.
The irony is not in them being opposite, just that 'Anonymouse' came into being on Halloween, yet pops out of an easter egg.
Uhm.. Did you read the article?
