Felt this was in need of a bit of an Update - I've not done much really.
Any other ideas more than welcome!

What are you doing peering, this isn't peer review! I'll have a look at it.

It's not bad, Matt! Do you want to leave it here for more comment, or hurry it through?

The quote from Blackadder seems out of place to me, as it is not really about name calling but about the opposite, physical violence. There are plenty of examples of name calling in Blackadder.
While the "yo' momma" insult seems to be common in America, I've never heard of it in Britain or Ireland. The "my mother-in-law" joke serves the same function. But not among children, of course.

okay, I'll not peer, I'll peep Although that sounds a little mucky
I think the yo momma, your mum is an American/Aussie thing, so I'll rewrite that bit to include other variations...
I'll find a better Blackadder quote, I do like me Bladders - and there are some right good un's.
Will fix up the other bits you noted too
Um, I think maybe leave it in here for a bit longer before rushing it through, some more comment would be much appreciated, because, well I still think that perhaps it's missing that certain something and more ideas are welcome!

Moving On Posted Apr 15, 2007
Entry ID: A2061749 _ that might give you a few ideas, Matt.
Plus I have an anecdotal point.
Some people I knew - who called their lad by the nickname I'll divulge in a minute - genuinely (felt) they loved their little lad, but did find his behaviour a tad annoying. He *was a bit of a live wire, I'll admit, but even so....
When young Freddie Smith* finally went to school, he ignored the teachers when they called him Freddie. It puzzled them as to why, because he was a well mannered little lad, generally speaking.
In the end, they asked him why
"Because" the child replied "Mummy and Daddy always call me Scrote"
*Name (obviously) changed.
I lost touch with the familly, but I often wondered what effect such an appauling name tag (from his familly) had on that lad.

Funny you should say, but my brother in law gets the same nickname!
Thanks for the ideas, I'll see what I can incorporate

Moved from 'Name Calling' to 'Name Calling'?
Is this some sort of Zen?
