She had eyes the colour of mint julep, and I never wanted her to stop talking.

And I would have asked,

"Let's run away and hide, you and me

and from our little corner we can tease the world

apart."

And she would have said,

"Why, that'd be wonderful,

but what's wrong with here and now?"

And I would have said,

"No, here you would stop talking.

Let's go to where there's no outside,

And the world will be prettier because it's not there."

And she would have said,

"You're mad, but you make sense!

I'll do it just the same."

But I didn't ask, because we don't do such things.
