Novo,
Eggchasing is a very different kettle of fish to football though. The game naturally has breaks whils scrums and lineouts form up. Even penalties can sometimes take over a minute before the kicker is ready to kick.
This simply isn't part of footy, it is a natural free flowing game. I think you will find that most of the sports where tech has worked naturally have breaks Rugby, Gridiron, Cricket. In sports like football or basketball it would interupt the flow IMHO.

I wouldn't want to see tech introduced during the game for the reasons in the last post; but i do think there should be more scope for video evidence to be used after the game is over.
Stiffer penalties for clubs and players ~ particularly loss of points for persistant divers would help refs regain control.
The current system where players get fined a couple of weeks wages is hopeless ~ most earn so much they wouldn't even notice.

Must have missed that when i was catching up.Neat solution.
The bans should be immediate and only count for games the player would actually have been on the field for.
There's been a few too many cases when players have been banned and then chosen that period to go and have surgery/treatment so they don't miss any extra games.

Well some people have said 5 games is draconian, I think it is just about right.
For me the panel should comprise of 5 full time staff. 2 ex refs, 2 ex pros and an ex manager. As long as they agreed it was deliberate cheating 4-1 then the ban stands.

I think that applying a maximum wage would help control players.
Each league would have a maximum salary - I know the new rules are coming (bet it stops before it gets to the Prem) but players could earn what they liked from sponsorship - then players image would then matter to sponsors. Golden Balls gets all the deals because he comes across as a 'nice' bloke - not too bright - but sincere. That might change attitudes.

The gridiron experience of salary caps suggests thast for a while it will create a more level playing fieeld, but eventually issues like 'performance bonuses' and 'signing bonuses' ensure that the 'best' players end up at the richer clubs.
Key: Complain about this post
