The Second Day of Christmas
Up (fairly) early, emptied the dishwasher while the kettle boiled and gave all the surfaces and sink a thorough clean.
Today we have some guests, as yesterday it was just me and the Aged Relatives. It was the quietest Christmas I've ever had, but I think it was quite enough for the parents. Our guests are arriving in the afternoon and we've a spread of the traditional 'Christmas Fayre'. (I think I am turning Dickensian.)
So, today we have a rerun of the actual Christmas lunch. I prepared double quantities of some of the veg so I can réchauffer them easily today. Then a speedy table clear and re-lay with the buffet. Pride of place goes to the traditional trifle, and I admit that Mrs Marks & Spencer kindly provided some of the tempting looking party food.
If I have the energy I might vacuum the carpet. Ho hum. Merry Christmas Day two

We're on our way to Ikea, of all places. It wasn't intentional; we are meeting my parents and brother on their journey from London up to Cumbria. We do need to buy a few things anyway so we are hoping it will all work out. Unfortunately it's likely to be rammed to the gills but hey, at least we get to see my brother at Christmas time, otherwise we'd've missed each other this year.

On the second day of Christmas I got up and turned on the heat in the bathroom because the coldness in there was of olivertwistian proportions
Checked emails first, then h2g2 while the bathroom heated up. Messages on Facebook had to wait till after my shower - together with &
Must remember to make pancakes later before the is off
Then maybe a brisk walk but otherwise relaxing and saving strength for tonight's traditional xmas jazz concert with good friends in the foyer of our local theater

We had a walk with the dog, had a big breakfast, will have a late lunch and are now trying to collect all stars in Super Mario 3D World.
Later we'll visit my grandma.

I had crumpets with butter & jam for breakfast then walked the dog. Now I'm pottering before tackling my turkey. Yesterday everyone was at my brother's so my turkey is strictly for personal use. So today I'll carve what I can then rip the rest from the carcuss. Some I'll keep in the fridge for meals over the next week, and some I'll freeze in individual portions for the odd meal in January.
Today it'll be cold turkey with mashed potatoes, some salad & lots of branstone pickle. My favourite meal of the year.
Later I'll be going to my mum's where everyone else will be gathering for a nice buffet. Just immediate family, so 9 adults & 4 children. And a dog (not mine or my brother's, sadly, they have to be left home as they don't play nice with my mum's old boy).
I love Christmas day, but boxing day is always my favourite.

After a breakfast of cold pancake and hot tea it was the car wash for me. Some chat with the aides, loaned the scooter out to Christopher, who loves the opportunity to get into "zero gravity" position. I could have done some art, but the therapist promised to be here 50 minutes ago. I have frittered away the rest of the morning, waiting. Art will have to wait till 5.

Today is actually notable precisely because I have managed to do nothing of any significance.
Got up late, didn't bother with breakfast, lunch, cold leftovers from yesterday with pickles.
I think I might have to go to the pub tonight just so I have done something.

Boxing day is behind me. Managed to go for a walk, buy a nice bottle of port for a bedridden friend, visit him and later enjoy jazz in the company of good friends and some . Now to check if the 's xmas special has been properly recorded while I was away.
But first I'll have a midnight snack of Danish Salami on rye with followed by on rye with acacia honey and later a few almonds, hazelnuts and olives with the bottle of port I bought for myself.
Sleep well my hearties
PS: You can tell I don't get up as early as I used to, can't you?
