" The people are liberated (browny points) and the "liberators'" companies get most of the contracts for reconstruction which gives a great boost to their home economies."
I was under the impression that onle ONE country's companies benifitted

I just posted the above in a 'flip' manner. The question is where does it stop?
As I did, on BBC NEWS 24 I heard somthing about a £77 million deal involving Iraq and a French car manufacurer.
OK £77m is peanuts, but it goes some way to explainging a few thing's?
Let's invade erm erm *point at map in a random fashion*.
Is it me or has war always been about land, money, greed. Anything else? Religion??? Well there is power in religioun and money.
Bout time the world grew up?
5% of the population using 95% of global resources?
Syria then Lybia eh?

" Anything else? Religion??? Well there is power in religioun and money."
Religion is the biggest scape goat of all time. Most so call religious conflict, no doubt, can be shown to actually be about wealth, land or both.

True.
Well if France is about to invest big-time in the middle east...
Least they will be using esources to make stuff we can use.
Not making weapons that can not be used, or are no way a real threat in the sence they prevent war.
Yep folk's I think a fair profit is good. Trade is good. Protecting weath is good. War still may be needed from time to time.
But I think this war we had with Iraq is a joke. There was no need for it. Where are all these weapons of mass destuction that 'was' a threat?
Maybe the secret Iraqi army is hiding them down the drains, until we leave.
For 80 years we have been 'dropping bombs' on Iraq. Why?

The answer to that one is easy. The inspectors weren't finding any. So what do you do?... Have a war before they finish so yo can 'make sure' to find some.

Remember the harmless white powder that Powel held up during his theatrical presentation to the UN. I think the larger props take longer to make.

They're not going to bother manufacturing much evidence. Bush has already said he's not expecting to find any WMD in Iraq. It's all been moved or destroyed by the Iraqis. Isn't that what they told the inspectors? Isn't that what the inspectors told the Security Council? Isn't that more or less what the French and the Germans and the Canadians and the Russians said? I hope they're calling them french fries again since they've come around to the French position.

Oh, and, "we will not tolerate any non-Iraqi involvement in the new Iraqi government". The new American Military Governor.

Sound's like replacing one dictation with another. Least this one IS IN DIRECT conrol of the US. - Oh hush my mouth .
Strange thing is U.S.A. is a great country, just happens Texas Tom is doing round-up for his dads mess of 12 years back. When there was a valid reason for a war.
So I say again...
Let's invade Poland!

If they wanted to 'liberate' Syria they'd kick Israel out of the Golan Heights!

If you watch the NEWS, an item about Israel...
Look at the pictures show, at what you are really seeing.
If there is any vehical in shot, probably an Ambulance, it will be an American one, say made by GMC (General Motors).
Israel is already annexed, by the U.S.
On a more serious note, Israel is "Allowed" to have weapons of mass destriction. ie. The Atomic Bomb. Erm - "A deal was done."
Yet North Korea is not?
Not good

You're quite wrong, Zagreb. American fundamentalists all support Jews and Israel, they are all taught that's what they should do: to (a) help bring about Armageddon, (b) because Jews are God's chosen people and Christians have been temporarily grafted in, but on sufferance (c) Because American Christians believe Jews support them! If you go to Al Bushra, the Arab Christian site, they have many links that state the true opinion of *Israeli* Jews toward Christians - Jerry Falwell and the like would find it all hair-raising if they could ever be persuaded to look!

Zagreb, there are 2 million Jews in the USA (or thereabouts) a minuscule number, but they're an estimated 40-60% of writers and producers in TV - they have a lot of influence on public opinion.
The number of *Arabs* in the USA is minute, but there are non-Arab Muslims.
It may once have been true that American Jews were Democrat voters, but not so much now.
You define liberal as Libertarian do you not, which can be very confusing.
I used to go out with an American Jew, back in the day, he was a peacenik, a cliche, almost - then he turned up as a relief maths teacher at a school near here. (He may still be a peacenik, we lost contact).

a broard called ben posted a link to a news item in another thread about Bush and his proctologist Blair being nominated for the nobell peace prize.
Well the gist is. The right wing politician from Norway who nominated them said the war was good because otherwise Iraq gould get WMD in 5 to 10 years and use them to atack Israel.
What is it with the right wing and a country full of transplanted ameri... wait, I think I've just answered my own question.

Indeed, Apparition! BTW, did you hear about Belgium beginning prosecutions of Ariel Sharon, *and* Bush'n'Blair (separately) for war crimes? Brilliant!
