Every now and then we hear about what happens to americans who do.<

I think this speaks for itself in terms of why people perceive the US as arrogant and ignorant at times.

"I think this speaks for itself in terms of why people perceive the US as arrogant and ignorant at times. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/iraq_wolfowitz_dc" That's incredible! What arrogant bar-stools! Interfering is exactly what they're doing themselves. It continues to amaze me, this arrogant belief in their own superiority that Americans have. This arrogant belief that they alone have the right to possess WMDs. That they alone have the right to interfere in the affairs of sovereign nations. That they alone have the right to impose their will and enforce their warped brand of democracy on other nations. That they alone have the right to sit in moral judgement over other people. And that they alone have the right to play judge, jury and executioner over anyone who offends their delicate sense of what's right. All this from a nation in which real democracy is a distant memory. The interloper in the white-house is seemingly dedicated to enforcing American-style democracy on the rest of the world. Yet he, himself, made a mockery of the democratic process when he stole the presidency of the USA. If Americans weren't born with a genetic defect that renders them incapable of understanding the concept of irony - they'd see the irony in that.

"During the war, foreign Muslims battled U.S. troops alongside Iraqi militiamen."
They knew they were muslim, how exactly?
Or is this a new American 'racial thing' I wasn't yet aware of, maybe a replacement for "towel-head"?

It's amazing the way the Amwricans claim to know things, beyond any shadow of a doubt... like they know (far too early for DNA tests to have been done) that the people killed in Mosul the other day were in fact Uday and Qusay!

I don't know what "they" know or think "they" know or whether it's too early for DNA results or dental results, but if "they" are going to flout the "rules of war" by publishing photos of dead people to convince the world that they "got 'em" then they really should find better pictures than the ones I've seen, which show two swarthy, dirty fully bearded men who could be pretty much anybody.

You're right, those photos are very far from adequate.
What puzzles me is the American belief they're doing the best thing. That demonstrating to the Iraqi public that Saddam's sons are dead will help the Americans' cause. Surely the only thing it'll show for certain is that the Americans are quite prepared to go in guns blazing and take out anybody who offends them, without benefit of trial. (No less than 200 soldiers stormed the house in which these men were shot.)
Is that justice?
Is that the kind of democracy and fairness that America wants to instill in Iraq?
Is parading this kind of thing to the world really the wisest thing to do?

"Is that the kind of democracy and fairness that America wants to instill in Iraq?" where'd you get the idea they want to do that?
I haven't seem them doing this where there wasn't a finantial return to be had.
Quite right Anhaga, they look like anybody. What do they have to compare with for a DNA test?

Bits of what they said was Saddam a while back?
Can't any one else here see the humour of it all? It's Punch and Judy, Wayne and Schuster, with the comedians expecting us to actually believe it is happening.

I bet one corpse has a king of spades tatooed on his butt and the other has the queen of spades. Since they match the "deck of cards" it must be them.

Sadam seems to be sending videos from beyond the grave. They just released a new one made after the killings of his "sons". For someone who was absitively blown to bits, Sadam seens relatively healthy.

Actually, my personal feeling is that they probably did "get 'em" this time. But they really aren't playing it very well for the world audience, I don't think.
Something I thought of the other day when there was more talk of "high value targets" was (as I phrased it as I yelled at the radio) "You know, there are other people out there with a list of high value targets, and guess who the ace of spades is in that deck?!" And the people with the other list don't have to get through it before the next election; they can be very patient. As the Klingon's say "Revenge is a dish best served cold."
