There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

Hello Researcher 220339 and welcome to Peer Review smiley - smiley

I'm one of the h2g2 Scouts. It's our job to search through PR, and indeed the whole of h2g2 looking for good entries, and I think we've got one here smiley - ok This is a very fine entry you've written and submitted for editing.

One important tip I ought to give you straight off, is that if an edited entry already exists which covers a subject there can't be another, so it's a good idea to use the Advanced Search link you'll find on almost every h2g2 page. You can use that facility to search for edited and normal entries.

There's an entry on shaving here A266005, but that one covers shaving yourself whilst your entry is about shaving someone else, so there shouldn't be any problem with overlap smiley - smiley

One question - what's 'nosocomial'?

Let's see what everyone else thinks about this entry smiley - ok

Hmmm... the word nosocomial is an adjective that I usually see in front of "infections" -- a nosocomial infection is one you catch while in the hospital. I tried looking up "nosocomial" in the dictionary, and that was where they headed as well, defining it as an adjective meaning originated in a hospital. So I'm not really sure that word fits here.

Title could be made a bit clearer to indicate that it is about shaving someone elses face in a medical context.

It's quite a narrow topic, but not without interest.

I agree sprout, perhaps it should be called the "Art of Shaving Someone Else"?

It sounds a little medical, are there other circumstances where there is a shaver and shavee? Perhaps in the barbers or something, where they use those frightening cutthroat razors. A little bit about that might broaden the article a bit.

A link to the article gosho mentioned would be good too, have a look at the http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/GuideML-Clinic - that will give you some pointers about how to add headings and links etc to your article.

A great start smiley - ok

It should be here:

You, and you alone, should get an 'Edit Entry' button somewhere up the top right.

First, great job! You voice is great for the edited guide. Factual, but not overly *teach-ey*. Well written for the most part. Nice topic too!

A few ideas:

The section that reads:
"These essential needs are termed activities of daily living (grooming, shaving, and bathing). While bathing removes most off the daily accumulated dirt and bacteria from the skin, particles can remain on a person’s hair follicle."

1)Activities of daily living (ADLs) include several other major points: feeding, toileting, communicating needs, etc. But you're definately on the right track, just avoid saying "and" because that makes it sound like there are only three.

2)There really is no transition between the two sentences there. The paragraph really JUMPED from one to another and lost me for a moment.

Researcher 220339, how're you getting on? I really like your entry and I think it will make a welcome addition to the Health and Healing section in the Edited Guide. smiley - smiley

Anything you want to add/correct in light of the above comments before I accept the Scout's recommendation?

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

Congrats indeed! Holly is it? I see you haven't posted in two weeks, but hopefully you'll read this. I'll be the sub-ed for this entry, meaning I'll do the first read through and polishing before the paid bbc-editors approve it for the front page. If you have any input to this process feel free to post it, and I hope you'll have the time to check out my work before I send it back to the powers that be. smiley - smiley

I have made a few changes that I feel makes the entry read better, and converted it to standard Guide ML. If the author stops by I hope she'll have a look at A998085 at tell me what she thinks, and perhaps also answer this question:
When is after shave contraindicated?

If after shave is desired apply it after finising the shaving

Yes, I realized that (even though I never use the stuff. smiley - smiley ).
I was just wondering, since you wrote 'One bottle of after shave (unless contraindicated)' if there were instances where you shouldn't use after shave for medical reasons... or do you just like the word contraindicated? smiley - winkeye
