A Conversation for Talking Point: How Did You Discover the HHGTTG?

I remember hearing references in various places (radio, TV, magazines, etc) to HHGTTG as well as the answer to everything being "42". I can't remember when I sought out the origin of the reference, but it was a very short path from the first book to the next three, then soon afterwards the fifth in the "increasingly inaccurately named trilogy".

Since then, I can't really tell you I was truly aware of the world pre-HHGTTG! It's as if they've always been important in my life

ps - I must also add it has been my happy chance to come across all meaningful cultural reference points this way, be it Monty Python, the Goons, Terry Pratchett, Tolkein, etc, etc.

That's how you know a fan ........... '42' is the number, another fan will always know the answer!!

many a time I have bonded with complete strangers, if only for a second, over "42"!
