I suppose it varies a bit, with different people, but music is definitely one of the basics. I'd put it right up there with family, friends, & good food....books & women, in my case .

Glaring omission there, mind you, it is edible (& somewhat a staple for me) so it could easily be considered food, !

So true abbi, be feeding mine in about 8 hours, with the help of one of Canada's top saxophone players, PJ Perry .

Ah, correction - that Canadian modesty thing - he's won the Jazz Report Critics Choice Award, several years running & in Jan. took Saxophonist Of The Year honours at The National Jazz Awards in Toronto !

Well, I'm off in just under an hour & a half, for another evening of PJ Perry's sax, Bob Cairns' expertly played Jazz guitar, Mike Lent's sinuous standup bass,& Blaine Wikjord's solid, unfettered drums. (Ok, & a few 1/2 price Guinness, or Corona's too.)

Well, actually, for drinks, it was the 'Stella triplets'...3 Stella Artois Belgian beer...not bad, my first impression was, 'mmm, bit too mellow'. I can see it/them being an aquired taste...actually, quite easily aquired .

I like it in the summer. Something vacation-y about that beer!
You really do have a more diverse nightlife there than here. We seem to have bursts of one kind of thing, like a Jazz festival or an influx of Blues bands. Sounds like fun!

Actually cl, I was hoping to squeeze in the screening of 'Strange Fruit', a documentary on the song (in conjuncttion with our 17th annual film fest.), with a Vancouver vocalist (Melody Diachun)providing some music afterwards. Brother's B'day celebration, though....might catch the segment, though.
