A great grandmother for the seventh time.....
AlsoRan80 Started conversation Feb 24, 2010
today, the 24th Febuary, 2010 my seventh greatgrandchild was born.
so I now have four great grandsons and three great granddaughters.
Not bad going when it comes from the "stable" of one of my two daughers. The remaining daughter and three other sons have resolutely refused to make me a great grannie or even a grannie. !!
I already have the photos of the latest eition and he was only born this morning in South Africa. That is wonderful is it not.The remaining grandchildren have resooutely refused to "play ball" and given me any more greatgrandchildren.
My eldest great granddaughter knows her grannie Kim well and is quite adorable. when she comes to visit me she rushes up to me and says.
"Grannie Kim, I loooooove you" and flings her arms around my neck. little darling. !!
Quite thrilling,
Christiane

This is quite astonishing. This morning, driving my mother home, I spotted 4 magpies, all together on a grass verge. I said to my Mum: "4 for a boy!" and thought it would be news from Christina, who runs the solo group I attend on a Wednesday night, (she was absent last week, visiting her granddaughter who was close to delivering her first baby). Tonight Christina announced the birth of her first great-granddaughter, and I was mildly surprised, convinced the news was going to be ... male.
Then I arrive home and your journal is the first I read, so you made the prediction come true.
all round and congratulations to all the family, especially the new arrival

Hi Paulh,
No my dear friend. There are three great-grandsons living with their parents in Cape Town S.A.; There is the latest male arrival, a great grandson born and living in Johannesburg; and two great granddaughter living with their parents, my granddaughter and her husbandl in Sussex England. I really cannot believe it.
I have a photograph of myself taken yoincks(like about 78 years ago with my paternal great grandparents in the Pas-de-Calas which is where my paternal grandparents lived.
At least I had a photgraph of it - goodness knows where it is now.
go well,
Christiane

Hi my friends, both old which include Paulh, Websailor, Happy Nerd, and all the others.... and my new ones
Magwitch, Dragonqueen, and Eveneye.
I long to see the little one, but the photos are super. I went to town today and bought him a beaitofil little matinee coat in blue. - I am ashamed to say I am no longer able to do those intricate patterns which I did when my children were infants - and also some marvellously coloured wool/adrylic fibre in order to make a knee rug for myself.Sublime to the ridiculous.....!
It was market day and I also bought a beautiful cream Hellebore and some snowdrops and also three magnificent primula for my verandah. It makes it look so cheerful. I must admit that not one of the plants have died on the verandah, although they were all covered in snow. Even St. Francis of Assisi had a crown made of snow. !1
I shall convey the good wishes of you all to the happy parents, and grandparents - my daughter and son in law.
With all good wishes
Christiane

How kind of you to bother to say Hi and to drink to the health of little Sean. they all have lovely names.....
I long to see them all, and to be able to enjoy their games and togetherness.
Have just spent a good day getting to know my new carer. I hope it is going to work. !!...... but I wonder......

Snowdrops?
The other day, a co-worker said that she had some white flowers coming up in her yard. I guessed they might be snowdrops, and found some pictures on the Internet to help identify them.
I'm glad you have snowdrops where you are, too. I have some plates with a snowdrop design on them.

Christiane, children are wonderful and make me feel young again. The nearest thing I have come to being a parent is being an aunt and a great aunt. My oldest neice had a baby boy over a year ago and now he is gurgling away happily and putting everything into his mouth. I have noticed that when he's gurgling it sounds as though he is trying to talk and I am sure I can make out a few words.

Christiane, congratulations from me, too, on yet another great grandchild! You are so blessed! I would so much love to have a child, let alone a grandchild. My father was blessed with *one* grandchild! And that's a blessing indeed!
I wish you and your children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren everything that's good!

Very dear U224233
Thank you so much.
I went looking and searching - are you who I think you are?
I am so sorry that you have been so ill. I did write to you when I first came across you again, but I never had a reply, maybe I did not post it. I wonder.
anyway,my so dear young friend, I am going to conclude that you are whom I think you are, and I am still shattered by your news. I do hope that you are feeling better and that the kittens are all well as is their daddy.
With ever so much affection,
Your very old friend.
Christiane

I see that U224233 [also known as Dragonqueen] has a birthday on April 28. That's two days before my birthday, so we are both Tauruses. What great luck to have another Taurus to deal with.
For those non-tauruses out there: Taurus is the sign of the bull, and that means that we find ourselves locking horns at times.
Personally, I would rather sit in the field smelling flowers, like Ferdinand the bull. Okay, it's early March, and the flowers haven't come up yet, but they will. I have optimism that Spring will be glorious.
