A Conversation for I'm New - What Do I Do Now?
Gammel Dansk Bitters
cactusflowers Started conversation Oct 9, 2009
Good day,
It is October 9, 2009 and I have a question for anyone who knows all about Gammel Dansk Bitters.
In 1985 I received a bottle of Gammel Dansk Bitters from visiting friends from Denmark. It has never been opened, kept in a cupboard and I am curious as to the shelf life of my bottle of Bitters. The appearance through the dark bottle seems cloudy. If I were to open the bottle, how would I know if it is good or not?
Your help and suggestions will be appreciated.
Thank you. I am

no worries whatsoever, cactusflowers, gammel dansk will keep (sort of*)
it's not called 'gammel* (=old) for nothing
some of us even prefer an aged bottled of gammel dansk
*hard to find though
should i come over and help you empty it?

it's definitely not the best rocket fuel .. even though it may burn or explode if not handled with care ..
I think it's best, and safest, to drink it

Thank you Mr. Pirate, Since my Gammel Dansk Bitters is safe to drink, and after reading all the positive effects it provides, I do believe it will be the perfect tonic to clear my throat tomorrow before I sing at church and elsewhere on other occasions. I do appreciate your kind offer to come over and help me drink this aged potion, but I think it can be rationed out and used over the next few months or so. If it helps clear my vocal chords, then I will be tempted to contact my friend in Denmark (if he's still around) for some more Gammel Dansk.
God bless,
Cactusflowers

Gammel Dansk is an excellent cold remedy. Works wonders with cold weather as well.
