How do I reload windows from scratch?
Managed to get here so I hope I can get back here to read if anybody has posted. Also a microsoft link on "how to" might work.
I get cut so to search is difficult.
Don't seem to have a worm or anything.
Power problems
Construction....
Using some other way (isp) to get this far.
Cannot read mail or anything.

Do you mean reinstall? Because there are usually a few disks that come with your computer that will reinstall everything as it was when you first got the computer.
The catch is that they will wipe everything else off.

If you go to the start menu, there is an area in all programs that say set program access and defaults. You might try this before reinstalling Windows from scratch. I believe this resets the computer back to a previos configuration when it was working properly. Good luck.

"sytem restore should fi if xp , chances are xp2 update did the nasty."
ltp-Actually I have had trouble since XP2 - What a problem it is to be protected aparently! I suspect my isp is "not a friend of microsoft"
Thought I had a worm but seems I am registered as the administrator twice. Afraid it was a stranger at firstBut no Turns out it was the doings of changing something a long while back. The computer tech when he thought it was dead so took a last shotBUT I cannot do system restore until I figure out a way in
That is why I thought I may have to reload Windows.
So ltp do you run XP2?
I had the isp for email and IM was not working ideally.
Now they consider me a guest
I am have recently gotten broadband thru a 3rd company so ever since xp2 things have been awful! They are a friend of MS but not the isp I use
I have about decided the three mixing is the problem.
*sigh*
Seems to be an all too a common theme these days.
SO.....think I will take a break from fixing for now.
It will not last, I must have a working video player since I cannot read much these days.
Thanks everybody
I was about to write to Garry when this happened.
I'll have to wait , hope you are not alone.
Have mail from zen-PC-sal i cannot answer, saw it once.
I will keep all of the links now while I can.
I do have discs but wondered if the order matters.
Seems they were numbered on the cover at one time and now are not.
I'll let you all know when I am going to try again.
Every browser I have ever used had h2 on it!
I think the electrical work is done for now so it should not be rudely cut off as has been done several times and never helps
Dave OH he is close....Wow I may take him up on that some time.
Pausing for now while this route to h2 is working OK.
*need to feel the calm for a bit*

Wish I could be of some help abbi! Unfortunately no words of wisdom here...hope you're able to get things in proper working order real soon. (Actually, hoping that I can too-I'm currently using my computers "safe mode".)

abbi have you got set top box as well, then ,lady in a tree ,connects
via box through video/telly.
Sounds like you need to disconnect from web, turn of all fire walls, both the fire walls ,then go into control panel and take away aministration privileges for one of tha administrators, then take xp2 of ,restart firewall ,other point is if you dont use windows media player try takeing that off that update llso caused me problems.
have you tried pressing
Ctrl+ATL+DEL ,that takes you into task manager ,see if a process is tieing things up.
also you can start new task ect like explore those cds ,put them in no order.

ctrl alt delete has not worked since the problem started
I did get a few bugs worked out but not tackled the main isp problem.
I am wondering if the one administrator is behind a partition?
( seems like that is how the computer got saved before)
I have not figured out how I discovered that 2nd adm.
Only saw it once on a cold reboot.
Thanks smudger
I never had trouble with 98 or 2000 windows.
I would stay away from Office XP for sure IMO.
I wanted the home edition *pout*

Yes i think you get that option from F2 ,F10 gives you choice to alter administrtor priv nd starting order
when you first switch it on
if you still have your old windows 98 you could put that in and put that on seperate part of disc if big enough.
did you upgrade to xp or did it come with computer.
I am wondering if the one administrator is behind a partition?
prop behind xp firewall ,or virus scan, to do with isp (outlook express? msn?)

the tech stuff is utterly beyond me but abbi, i can email david with your phone number but only IF you give me permission... or maybe you already have it?
I don't know if he is techno savvy to a great extent BUT he is physically right next door & a "real" human helps in this sort f situation;
Just say "yes" or "no" to giving him your number; if it's a no he will realise it's not because you don't trust him but because of other reasons, don't worry.
At least you can get on here a little.
