They've extended their tour. My task for next week is to try to get tickets to see them at the Brighton Centre, hopefully the fact they did two shows at the Brighton Dome will mean that Brightonians won't have snapped all the tickets up for this extra show.

The Mighty Boosh has a humour that I just don't get. I've been hoping for someone to come along and explain it to me. Currently, it reminds me of a lot of Modern Art, where I look at it and sorta think, "I was doing stuff like that at twelve." Yet the Boosh clearly have a big and enthusiastic following of students and other brainy people. So what am I missing? Is it an age thing, perhaps?

I think it's a personal taste thing. To state the obvious - humour is pretty subjective stuff.
I look at Little Britain and think 'I could have done better at 15' and I look at The Mighty Boosh and I'm laughing from start to finish and at the end let out a little sigh of admiration for how original I regard it. Maybe I'm the one that's missing something but, it tunes in directly with what I regard as funny.
I don't have the brain to analyse it.

Is it the jokes themselves, or the way they're delivered?
I like Little Britain. I just wish they wouldn't tell the exact same jokes in every damn episode: it smacks of a sorry lack of imagination. That aside, I laugh because many characters and situations are caricatures of my own experiences, and the actors perform them very well. With the Mighty Boosh, I'm not even sure which bits are designed to pull the laughs. Mind you, it does mean I've ended up watching a fair bit of them on TV, just in order to try to figure out what all the fuss is about!

Juiced Crayfish! A simple question... err. I do like the delivery.
You've hit on exactly what I hate about almost every 'sketch show' since Big Train.

not a fan of little britain but love the Mighty Boosh. I love the moon in the latest series. I miss the zoo. Loved the nanatoo episode and the yeti hunting one.I'm sure I first heard it on radio though.... or am I mistaken ? Hope you get the tickets

I'm told they started out on stage and won a Perrier Best Newcomer award before moving on to TV. I haven't seen the latest series.
(It does look rather like a snail, dunnit? )

Yep, they started out on stage, did the Edinburgh festival, got themselves a radio four commision and moved onto BBC3.
I love their style of comedy. Maybe that's all it is - a style, and there's nothing to get. I don't know, it just chimes with my sense of what's amusing.

'It does look rather like a snail, dunnit?'
It the only thing is does look like to me. First thing I thought when I saw it - that's a snail. Still better than the and smileys. The one is OK I guess, just doesn't fit with the hootoo style, but the one is just ugly.

I did get the tickets. They added a Tuesday performance, got tickets for that so I could closer to the action.
Hibernation I am currently thinking does more harm than good, so huzzah for the felines.

When I first came across Terry Pratchett's work I thought he was really naff and that I could do better with my eyes shut. Later, I well and truly ate my hat and I now think he's a very talented writer.
I wonder if the same will happen to me with the Boosh.
