Sorry walter,
didn't mean to celebrate too early, just got carried away. I'll still be here, though, untill sergi is off the list, THIS PROTEST CONTINUES.
Oh and if the editors want us to stop writting here then why don't they take sergi off the list, are they all stupid?

Hello your Closeness to the Almighty,
Gee that last post of yours is going to get up someone's nose.

Hmmn. Not too polite, but I'll let it go this time. It's not quite that simple HP of Glendor.
Jim Lynn is the technical lead, at the moment he is putting the final touches to the new version of h2g2 which is due to go live in a couple of weeks' time. I'm trying to get the communities new smilies coded in at the same time, because everyone will benefit.
Now there's obviously a problem with poor Sergei. Which was well spotted by Walter. I could stop the techs, right in the middle of a site upgrade to take him off, but personally I'd rather they just did the upgrade. After all Sergei's been dead for 48 years, I don't think a few more days or weeks will make any difference.
Also, I'd prefer it if the techs find out exactly how Sergei got stuck in the black hole of 'most neglected', so that the same thing doesn't happen to say, an entry on say, the Spice Girls (although I don't know, that might be a good thing... ). If they delete it now, they might not be able to find out why it happened later. Fair enough?
So Sergei stays there for the time being. Let's throw a party when he gets out though....

Good morning Peta, and your Elevated Rectoritude,
Isn't Peta a sweetie? Thanks for your time and info (but if it is okay with you I'll just hang around on the street outside the Towers for a little while longer).
Well HP, it is Hobart, Tuesday 07.55 and for the first time in weeks, Sergei is not on the list. Now Tinkerbell and Just Zis had this theory that if Sergei was completely neglected for a couple of days, he would in fact disappear so to speak. I have no idea of the rationale behind the theory, but maybe .....
Peta, the site seems to be having a bit of a thingy over the last day or so, but after reading your post I am assuming the interruption to normal quality service has something to do with the impending upgrade. Or is it because the occasional researcher does postings of 100,000 plus letters?!!!

Okay Peta and Abi,
I know my vigil outside your building is supposed to be largely silent, but just wanted to do a quick reply to HPoG.
"Altogether now, tie me kangaroo down sport, tie me kangaroo down." I'd do a verse or three of 'Two Little Boys' but it makes me weep.
PS Sergei was back on the 'most neglected' this morning.

Sergei seems to keep popping off and back on again lately. Maybe the upgrade'll fix him anyway, although they didn't mention doing any changes to that...
And anyway, once you've got all the new smilies to play with you'll be too happy learning all about them and exclaiming with delight to worry about Sergei, and by the time you remember him, Peta will have it all sorted.
Isn't my blind faith in She That Is The Community Editor just sickening?

Thanx walter for your wondefull rendition of tie my kangaroo down, it made me warm in the heart (or was it warmth with dread -can't remember)
i don't understand why sergi keeps going on the list then coming off it and going back on it again, i could sort of understand if he was on it all the time. it would be kinda be like a black hole wich sergi had got stuck in but this movement is confusing my small uncomplicated brain and my faith is the only thing which keeps me going. at the moment it's 7:10pm and i'm wondering that if i jump off the bridge now then i would not have to be tormented later on BUT if i do that i will never know what is happening to poor sergi and (even more importantly) i will never see him off the list for ever.
well thanx again

Hey High Priest,
Belay that talk of jumping off bridges!!! Jump up here mate, she'll be apples, there's room on my horse for two; did you think I would leave you crying etc etc (Walter stops, flicks tears away and wipes snuffly nose).

*looks over at Walter*
My theory was supposed to have some form of rationalisation? No one mentioned that...
So would I be right in thinking that we were correct when suggesting that there was a problem with Prokofiev being classed as neglected? It has to be said though that it is quite friendly having him sat there day in, day out...kinda welcoming

thanx walter *gets up onto the horse*
bye bridge - maybe i will c u again *waves good bye as the horse heads back to the h2g2 towers*
thanx again walter, nice horse, i'm a bit down at the moment, my girlfriends in paris and sergi is on the list still and the bridge looks so warm and nice and... *wipes a tear away* it all just gets to me but rolf keeps me happy as well as Glendor.
well thats enough of my moan,
thanx to u all

Gooday HPoG,
No worries cobber.
(Walter and HPoG walking in the damp, dark evening, arms around each other's shoulders, doing a passable impersonation of 'I'm Jake the Peg with the extra leg'. Mr Mark Moxon throws open a window on top floor of h2g2 Towers, shouts out with unmistakeable tone of irritation 'will you two shut up and take your Rolf Harris repertoire and your Sergei Prokofiev protest slogan somewhere else!!' Walter looks up, calls out did Peta and Abi save some of the Boags Premium for you, and how was you transatlantic trip, but by this time window is slammed closed with very definite touch of bad attitude. Ah, thinks Walter, 'transatlantic'. Hey High priest, how are you with Rod Stewart? No, not Maggie May, you know his album Atlantic Crossing?' Walter and HPoG exit into cafe for a cup of warming coffee, to talk about Paris and the words of 'Sailing').

Just a quick 'hi' to all of you italicised people in h2g2 Towers. Walter is still out there, mooching around on the pavement, maintaining the vigil, keeping the faith, you know the sort of stuff. I was going to try one of the tried and tested protest chants, like 'what do we want: Sergei off. When do we want it: now' kind of thing, but for smething more insidious and hopefully attention-getting, this is for you: "There's an old Australian stockman, lying, dying ...." (No music yet, but the distinctive and dread sound of a wobbleboard coming to life can be heard).

i reacon a chant would work well, but only if it had a good rhyme and kept to the theme, oh and occationaly mentionaing rolf harris. talking bout rolf - did any one watch animal hosbital? i saw the first story bout this guy who stood on his new kitten(accidently) i missed the end so i don't know if the kitten is ok - or the man for that matter coz hew was really upset. so if anyone saw it just tell me what happend.
oh, i've also got some tomatoes that have gone off and don't know what to do with them, any sugestions? *glances at a window on the h2g2 towers which is open - a shaddow of Mark Moxon cast against it. a grin spreads across High Priests face*
well talk to u lot again soon, i've got some throwing lessons to get on with.

Hello Mr Mark Moxon, Peta, and Abi (do hope you are recovering fast),
Sorry, don't know how to afford you the appropriate italicised status. Sergei Prokofiev has not appeared for several days on the most neglected (whoops, most overlooked) page. This may be a coincidence, or it may not. If some hand of the powers that be has brought to an end the ignominy and indignity that was daily being meted out to Sergei, then I offer my appreciation to all concerned, and you will find another six pack of Boag's Premium outside the security door of Fortress H2G2.
If, on the other hand, it is just a coincidence, then it's "All together now, tie me kangaroo down sport, tie me kangaroo down etc etc ad nauseam."
And Mr Kershaw gets the Boags.
Walter.

Thanks for the beers. I *hope* that it's fixed. I'm not absolutely certain however. So shall I just put the beers in the fridge for now and we'll open them together and throw a party if it doesn't reappear by the end of the month?

Hello italicised people and thankyou very much for changing it to most overlooked, now even if he does return it shall be to a happy place rather than a neglected and lonely place so umm...
*passes round the Ministerial Fruit Pastille supplies*
Oh and also this is entirely the wrong place to say this but thank you for my very own smiley too...
