Gnomon - time to move on Posted Aug 21, 2007
The last paragraph of your 'Updating' doesn't seem quite right to me. It talks about which sub-editor should get the "Edited By" slot. But there is only one sub-editor, the original one. Everybody else is just an author, surely?

hmm, that's the original phrasing and always seemed a bit clunky to me too. I'll see what I can do.

I've now submitted the Seaweed Update into EF with all the necessaries here; F47997?thread=4531473
If everyone thinks this is going to work okay then perhaps we can notify the other Researchers who have Entries in the UF to pop them into PR for 'quicker' processing

So, the differences between the new system and the old are:
1. The entry is submitted to the Peer Review forum instead of the Update Forum, with the word Update in big letters in the title.
.. uh, that's it, isn't it?

I don't think so...
I've put up a new Update Instructions manual here; A26108886
Have a look and see if it reads okay.

Looks pretty good to me, Matt. I think your name needs to be added in the section of researchers who've shaped the process, though.

Nah. I've done a lot for the Guide behind the scenes in the past, I'm not out for glory, just for getting the EG more accessibility.

Dear Eds,
It appears everyone is happy about the way this now works, as other Researchers have now added Updates to Peer Review for processing.
I suggest transposing this Entry A26108886 onto the update Forum page, removing the Update Forum from the choice of Forums to submit to, changing the Update Forum link on the Front Page to read 'Updating an Entry' or 'Updating Process' and moving the Entries in the Update Forum to Peer Review (or notifying the authors of those Entries in the Update Forum of the changes to the process so they can move them themselves).

The H2G2 Editors Posted Sep 24, 2007
Hello Matt,
Thanks very much indeed for all this. We'll try and make the changes this week; although please note that we'll need a bit of technical help to get the drop-down menu removed.
