They get full Front Page coverage in the present system.

Front Page layout;
Three Entries (currently two new and one not new)
break
Update (or collection of like Entries) and Topic of the Week
break
Community Stuff
Quote of the day
The suggestion is to make the update one of the Three Entries (thus higher on the page and more likely to get readership). Plus it also means that if there's no Entry with a picture, often an Update will have an older artwork, which then highlights some of the old artwork, which is rather fun.

Sounds good to me, Matt. I didn't know one of the three front page entries at the moment was an old one. How long has that been going on? The whole summer slump?
laconian - you're a shameless flatterer.
to check the feedback on the seaweed entry.

It comes and goes with the three main Entries now. Sometimes there's a load of new ones, but not often. The Eds have been putting the last one in the three as an old Entry that could possibly be updated for a while now...
Thus, another reason for making the Update process simpler and more community involved.

It definitely needs a hand. This change just makes sense. Kudos for the suggestion.

The one change I would make to the Updating page, Matt, is that the end of the process is rather vague. Can I suggest that, when the Entry is removed from PR, the author posts to either EF or the Curators homepage and we handle the actual update as we do now? It's not the actual updating that takes any time at the moment; it's more the fact that, with few comments or reviews, we're never actually sure when the Update is ready to go. The final checking and updating only takes quarter of an hour or so, so one of us can do this any time.
The reason we need to do something like this at the end is so that the Italics don't have to spend time doing the updates, so we need a way for the Curators to be aware that it is ready to go. Most Curators aren't subscribed to PR, so a posting to either of those pages would ensure that one of us can get on with it.

Would you think EF is the better one to leave a message? That way either a Curator or an Italic could deal with it?

There we go, update process page 'updated' again - A26108886
How do people think that's looking?

One point that needs to be highlighted is that Updates don't get sub-edited, so they really need to be exactly right before they can be processed. Normal entries in Peer Review, on the other hand, should be reasonably correct, but the sub-editor can do final tidying.
I'm looking forward to seeing how the test update gets on.

Right, I've added that information and cleared up the processes some more for potential newbies to updating
