I think, if we got someone to write the code and create the clock, Jimster would just have to check it, test it and bung it on the system.
Am I close Jimster?

I think the words of today are "not yet."
but everyone cracks under enough pressure - so just give 'em time!

and that is the very fuel that feeds our fire.
It may be pointless and impossble. but you've got to laugh haven't you?

It's having a laugh that keeps you on here!
And if Jimster won't give us our clock - who else can we annoy?

OK - annoy the hell out of, so they convert and allow us our clock!

What about:
http://www.census.gov/main/www/popclock.html for a bit of variety...
or the playschool clock at:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/ilove/tv/playschool/videoclips/video7.shtml
The last one is *very* nice.

I can now reveal after intensive negotiations - it's not going to happen.
Largely due to h2g2 now being one of many DNA comunities, small or limited group requests cannot commmand the attention of the italics and technical bods that they used to be able to.
Novelty items, which this ultimately qualifies as ,just don't qualify especially in the current climate of reduced staff and higher maintennence.
Sad, I know.

But if somebody like Peet wrote one - like he already has, can't we just send it, let the italics check and test it and bung it on?
It would reduce the time that the italics would need to writing and so on to virtually nil.

::Clears throat::
Ahem.
Excuse me Italics, but if we wrote this in something other than Javascript and made it work, would you be willing to install it? We'll do all the work on writing, testing, etc.
Please?

Not just ducking the discussion now, but it's really not up to us. This would still need to go through the DNA development team. I suppose it all comes down to how it might be used, and how it might affect other DNA sites, none of which we have enough technical knowledge to answer.
So I'd suggest this is a matter for The Hub now...
Good luck!

OK Jimster - one final (and probably stupid) question......how do we contact the Hub/Development Team?
