I have a small query. Now that I finally got the hint about needing to use HTML to edit my user page (I make no appologies for being just a tad on the slow side) I've disscovered a problem. I've edited my page at it looks OK BUT if I then want to edit it later, If I click all my formatting instructions are no longer in the dialogue box and I have to put them all in again before I can update my page.
So, my question is WHY DOESN'T IT SAVE ALL MY FORMATING.
Also, call me thick but I still can't get smiley faces on my page!
Just so you know it's been about three years since I used any HTML and I appear to have forgotten everything!

ESP or lack of it

The forum to discuss ESP is ALL about SEP! I suppose ESPers know it all.

This is a test: To put a link in a Forum Posting, just type the URL, no html tags needed. For example http://www.h2g2.com/forumframe.cgi?forum=5242&thread=6962" = Spartus in Ireland

Could someone explain the proceedure and HTML for placing "links" on a user page?

Okay, since you asked so nicely, to put links on your user page you type this bit of HTML into your edit box:
Any text here
This will give you a link. In the any text here bit, you tupe the text which you want to be red and underlined, that when pressed will take you to another page. Ok? If you still don't get it, check out Zachsmind's postings on the H2G2 club message board.

OK. I'm trying to place a courtesy link to andyart.com. Read your instructions, thought I understood them, but checked zachsmind's message at h2g2 yahoo,as you suggested, as backup. This is what I entered;ht tp://www.andyart.com/(no spaces, I added spaces here to prevent a link from forming in the forum). The andyart URL showed up as it should, by itself, but not as a link. What did I do wrong?

What you need to enter is <A HREF="http://www.andyart.com/">text for link</A>

yeah, the main problem is you closed the link like this when you should have just put . Try it...smiley - fish

It's because HTML doesn't work in these forums. Just paste in the URL you want people to pay attention to, and it'll automatically become a link.

OK> This is what I entered.andyart.com .....still no link. Am I just hopeless, or will I ever get it?Please, O wise and gracious ones, what, oh what, am I doing wrong?smiley - sadface

Like I said before, just paste in this: http://www.andyart.com and it'll become a link automatically when you post. If you don't believe me, paste or type in a URL, any old URL and preview it.
And it's , not , just so you know. smiley - smiley

The HERF was a typo in that last entry. The problem is, that just typing in the URL only works on journal and forum entrys. It doesn't work on the user page. I think Ive tried every suggestion given, (and a few I invented myself) to no avail. I suppose I'm just thick headed!smiley - smiley

It looks like there isn't a space between the A and HREF. There should be a space separating them.
