Would you know of an index of "image buttons" used around dna sites and maybe a few other BBC sites please?

ie. <IMG SRC="<./>/signon/h2g2/images/buttons/signin_slim.gif</.>" ALT="Sign in" />

There are different 'buttons' available by changing */h2g2/* to say */collective/* and it's the *< name > .gif* part I'm wondering about, what are they all called?

They are the single-sign-on images for various sites and the associated skins. So as well as the currently standard h2g2 brunel one there's:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/signon/h2g2_classic/images/buttons/signin_slim.gif
http://www.bbc.co.uk/signon/h2g2_alabaster/images/buttons/signin_slim.gif

See also the sets from:

Hi SEF, I know post 2 was from you, as I've just been to your personal space to check...

I very much doubt you would have said anything offensive, yet as I did'nt see it before it was removed; maybe you could contact me at another 'T' - though I'd need a reminder of the number.

You misread the message. I didn't say anything offensive and the post wasn't "removed" in an active sense, ie you weren't seeing it after the event but before the event.

SEF, sorry, I did indeed miss read the notice yesterday. After checking another few post on the site, I had a second look here. Yes it was in a queue, now *restored.* - If you can restore what has never been? Well, there have been a lot of different strange *things* like "XML error." References to "line 191" and out of sync displayed posted times of late. So hidden tempory is a small bug-bare in the sceme of things. I was looking for a directory of *system* imagaes abound on dna... So thought to ask *oh great collator* of such things. Something along the lines of the sized smiley list you did? In post, the "/images/" section shown without the "http://" to prevent site truncated display of URL. A naming of the normal background colour they are shown on might be handy too?

Not a bug but pre-mod. Though there may be bugs there too, I suppose!

TiT was listing a lot of the incidental skin images in various pages on the site. I'm not sure how much organisation there was to that though. I'd only kept some offline listing of things that might be useful, eg the site-switcher I made for my BBCi tester account (when what appeared to be a bug in the software gave me a PS on what had previously been a largely invisible account and then some member of staff had the cheek to move its default site without asking).

Those previous links without the start http bbc bit are:
/signon/h2g2_classic/images/buttons/signin_slim.gif
/signon/h2g2_alabaster/images/buttons/signin_slim.gif
/signon/h2g2/images/buttons/create_membership_slim.gif
/signon/h2g2/images/buttons/closethiswindow.gif

Ah, well... Suffering *inattentive addle of the inventive with ingenious* is something that could happen to anybody.

I should invite TiT U228046 to post a <./>/path/or/two</.> here?

You search for something of an image that will change over sites, I though we had a sitefilter smiley - biggrin.

I will see if I can come up with something."

Yes, though it looks as though some images have been deleted/moved at the BBC since I put them in the page.

And indeed I have seen more 'stolen' image-links from the removed sites. Just only the links are left behind after the sites closed."

Yes, lots. Some are duplicates of old blobs. Some never made it onto the site.

I still haven't decided what to do about listing all of them better on site in a conveniently searchable form. Thread posts are more searchable than articles but the text is then unfixable if there is more information about an image later.
