They think It's All Over...

Lincoln at home, drew 1-1 (Dolt). A thriller at home to Swansea, h2g2 squeaking through 4-3 (Ellen, Dolt(2), Broelan (pen)). Dolt obviously scores more from off the bench - I think he's staying there for the time being. Madent, however, is not playing well - back to the reserves, replaced in the 1st team by Ekki.
The 3rd round of the Vans trophy brings Conference team Southport, who make us work hard. It's 1-1 (Perseus) at full-time and after extra time, so we go to penalties. Bob, Oom, Perseus, Psychocandy and 2legs all slot home their penalties, and Queeglesproggit pulls off a vital save to help us win 5-4. Port Vale in the Quarter Finals (North).
An unconvincing 2-1 victory over bottom-placed York (Broelan (pen), Titania) brings us to the replay at Grimsby, to decide who meets Man United the following Saturday.
Well, we played hard, and although our defence was slack, we managed to sneak it 3-2 (Belle, Perseus, Oom).
So the big day at Old Trafford dawns. The team run out in their dashing Goo-coloured kit, with instructions to stay tight on van Nistelrooy and Beckham. So, of course, Paul Scholes scores a hat-trick and we lose 3-0. Dammit.
Sorry, guys, but they were a very good team. It looks like the match may have still been preying on our minds when we put up a lacklustre performance the next week in drawing 2-2 with Luton (Dolt 2 - from the bench again!). We currently sit 2nd in the table, two points behind the leaders, Darlington.

One minor quibble.
If I remember rightly, you said we replaced Exeter City in the game. So why the heck are we in the northern section of the LDV?
And I'll have noone knocking it and calling it a mickey mouse cup. Its been the source of my only trip to Wembley!
Play up, play up and play the game!

I was rathger wondering that myself. unless he moved their ground- on the dat editor you can move a teams ground to change their classification, so you could make (for example) Brighton play their home games at Old Trafford.

A-hah! If you read the homepage a bit more carefully, you find that we play all our home games at Gnomon's house. Which is in Dublin. Which, while not exactly North, is more north than Exeter.

Fair enough. What sort of capacity does Gnomon's house have?

Yes, Wimbledon would have been a more sensible choice, but I really wanted us to start in the 3rd Division.
Gnomon's House currently has a decent capacity of around 17,000 - but it has the potential to seat up to 130,000 if we make it big - a reflection on the number of registered Researchers.

As a Plymouth Argyle fan, I'm very happy for Exeter not to be in this league. Oh, no hang on, wait a minute... they aren't in the real league any more anyway, are they!
Well done, Master B - I hold you responsible in some way.
