According to Fit the Fifth, there are only SIX ningis in one Pu. I just confirmed this by listening. So there!
* gives self an extra point and worries about extent of Hitchhiker's obsession *
I'd have got even more if Ripper didn't currently have my DVDs - then I could've checked some other stuff too.

Hey... according to the TV series... there's 8 ningis in a pu... me just checked to make sure... and the question/answer is correct... ~hug~
Me did point out that the questions might differ from other versions on hitch hikers... but they are only based on the TV version...

That's dispicable! Absolutely unacceptable!
I demand my money back!

In the books, it's 3 ningi's to a pu, and the barman was happy to keep the change from a fiver when ford bought six pints of beer, etc.
I think clarification of sources would be needed before actually asking people these questions and scoring them.

Direct quote from the question page:
>>>They are all based on the TV series, and may or may not differ from the books or radio show.<<<

I was convinced the TV series had it at six though... oh well
Ripper still has my DVDs so I still can't check

It would be so much easier to do it from the books, due to them being owned by more people and easier to reference. It's much more simple to look up chapter six of book four than watch the series (assuming you have it) listening our for a specific word.

I will repeat:
In the TV show Ford buys beer in the pub just before the earth blows up, and tells the barman to keep the change from a fiver. Ergo, the beer cannot have cost five pounds.

Well maybe if we had the time to read through all the books in an extremely busy time for us, then we might have based the questions on those. As it was, we clearly stated that the quiz was based on the videos and, at the end of the day, it was only a fun quiz with no actual prize or winners.

The question
How much does Ford pay for six pints of beer?
A: £3.00 ¦ B: £4.75 ¦ C: £5.00
It did not ask how much a pint of beer cost... it asked how much did Ford pay for six pints of beer...
A question asking how much the beer cost would of been pointless as at no time did the tv series say how much an individual pint cost... so the question was posed as above 'How much does Ford pay for six pints of beer?'
The answer... Ford payed Five Pounds as he told the bartender to keep the change from a fiver. That is how much he PAYED... and not how much they COST
Me hopes that clears up this problem once and for all...
Oh and unless the DVD version differs rather drastically from the video version then the ningi question is most definately correct as well... not that me would dream of stopping you checking... ~grin~...
As to why me choose to do the questions on the tv series and not the books... because of the time constraints as Shazz pointed out... me watched the the series in 2 days... the books would have took far longer... and then there would have been no quizz to complain about... thus making this conversation pointless... and me does so hate pointless conversation... ~wink~
Nuff said... all complaints shall now be directed to the complaints department, which resides in a locked filing cabinet in a disused lavatory somewhere in the maze that is the cellar of the Post Office... You will know when you have found it cause it has the words Greebo's Doughnut Stash written on the door... unfortunately you will only have aa few short moments to wrap your mind around this as a trap door will open in the floor beneath you and you will find yourself plummeting to your certain doom... into the pit that holds all the rejected material for the Post...
Please find comfort in the knowledge that as you fall down you can read from the many signs that have been hastily scribbled on small 'Post It' notes stuck on the walls.... They have of course the words 'Don't Panic' written on them in small friendly letters... which is hopefully guarenteed to bring you comfort in the few short minutes you have left...
Remember always the words of the great Cheshire Cat himself, 'Where the heck is my doughnut?'
Share and Enjoy...

True, but I think the question there was 'how much did Ford pay' not 'how much did the beer cost' - which was never stated. And Ford paid an awful lot more for the peanuts than he did for the beer...

Fair enough.
I think we will stop bothering to run friendly quizzes if it generates THIS much nitpicking!

I have a safer solution... I'll return his DVDs. I've finished with them now... I should never have kept them from him so long.
MaW. have some .
