Hello and thank you for posting this funny excerpt.

I like your style, it's bouncy and off-centre in just the right way for The Hitch-Hikers' Guide. It's quite obvious that you're steeped in Guide lore and that you know where your towel is.

Your writing has a freshness and sense of fun, which I feel the last two of Douglas' Hitch-Hiker books lacked. Also, you seem the like the people you're writing about (even Jeltz); whereas, I feel that Douglas lost sympathy with his characters.

You've just recreated Earth, when we now know the question to which the ultimate answer is 42, so I'd love you to tell me where you'd take these ideas. Basically, I'm asking how you'd advance the Hitch-Hickers' story.

One thing I'd like you to be aware of, is that Douglas is quite a sophisticated writer, he uses misplaced epithets and a lot of irony. This isn't really a criticism, because you've packed an enormous amount into such a brief passage.

Finally, don't try to make every sentance funny - Douglas doesn't and neither does PTerry Pratchett.

Thanks again for this, I enjoyed it enormously.

Regards,
