If you'd like, I'll help you test it by sticking you with pins.

I confess to being a too-frequent pick-misser too, but on top of that I reckon only about half my picks are accepted. Maybe I tend to go for the less conventional Entries, but I sometimes wonder whether the combination of an unusual style and a quiet thread debars an Entry in the eyes of the Eds.
That arbitrary convention of keep-off-my-pick-cos-I've-posted-here-more-than-you really is anal, mean-spirited and bound to discourage much-needed PR participation. Maybe enough Scouts disapprove for a word to the group about better mannersin this respect?

Oh, and if my Entries get left because you lot are all off picking flipping newbies' Entries, there's going to be hell to pay. Ya hear?
(Although, if you were to pop by once a week to say 'we haven't picked this yet, Rich, because we still think this is rubbish' that would be perfectly acceptable )

oops-a-daisy Rich, that was a silly thing to say.

Done and done. I'm so sorry you don't have more in there, Mr. Rich. Let me know when my services will be needed again.

Good night.

"When I wrote my first entries, they were in PR longer than just seven days - and that's how it used to be with most entries. This recent 'picked the moment the incubation was over' was just an indication for the lack of entries, and I'm glad there actually are entries to choose from again. "
When I first started writing I used to beg for the number of entries per day to be increased because it took so long for an entry to hit the front page!
Even last year an entry of mine took four months to hit the Front Page.
I've been sticking to my two picks a month, but if that's not enough why haven't the Eds asked us to pick more a month? Rather than having a 'picking frenzy' every now and then just ask us to pick more on a regular basis - we can't see how many other Scouts are picking or not picking.
It's still hard to get reviewers though.

It is dependant upon the subs, I think. Being a sub and a Scout, I'm alert to the need for extra picks, to keep the subs happy. Sometimes there are no subs offering to take entries - other times there's a queue! So I make a few extra picks, enough to satisfy demand. It's call initiative... I'm sorry if it looks like I'm being a glutton, but I can't bear to see blockage.

Eco, it's been three picks a month ever since I joined, but I think they didn't change the volunteers page accordingly.

It did change from two to three a month around summer 2006, when were there weren't many Scouts but there were lots of Entries. By the time I gave my badge in the rules had become much looser, and I seem to recall Nats saying that we could make the odd additional pick as well as the monthly three if the mood took us.
I think that's quite a sensible approach, GB. As long as the Entries are ready, it's certainly better to have too many waiting to go to the Subs than not enough.
