A Conversation for h2g2 NetHack & Slash'EM Rogues' Guild
noeGNUd finally usable

Clive Crous's noeGNUd interface for NetHack and Slash'EM has got to version 0.7.1, and finally fixed the "slowdown bug" that made it impossible to play, so it's time I started a thread about it here.
If you like really fancy interfaces for NetHack, then this one is the best of the lot. It's pure 3d (rotatable into any position you like), and comes with a number of tilesets (some really fancy ones like the falconseye one, and some that are just colourful representations of the text-mode) as well as a number of fonts for text mode. Unlike other fancy interfaces (gnomeHack, falconseye come to mind), this one can be controlled completely with the keyboard in exactly the same way as the console-level game (as well as mouse if you really want) and includes loads of other fancy options that I never use like capturing the whole game as a series of html pages...

It still has a long way to come, but it looks to be the future for Hackers everywhere. Choice choice choice.
Oh, and the other day I finally worked out why it's called noeGNUd. (I'm slow)
