Hi Jab
The h2g2 front page and related EG entries have been using that syntax since June last year. It was found that the database was no longer delivering the blobs reliably. You may have noticed that the front page pictures became rectangular at that time because it was easier to abandon the system where blue and white versions of each graphic were available. As is generally the case in the computer world, the documentation appears to be lagging behind the update
