I believe I first heard about the Guide in 1985ish, when I was driving home listening to a radio station in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, when the guide came on. I was intrigued by the zany dialogue!
A couple of years later, a friend of mine showed me the TV series on PBS from the US. It was great, and I still watch it from time to time, and always laugh!
Finally, I got all the books, and was very happy to get Douglas' last book for Christmas. Whne I heard he had died, I was in total shock. He was a great writer, with a wonderfully warped way of telling a story that grabbed you tight and never let go!
I miss Douglas Adams.... may he rest well!
