A Conversation for Talking Point: How Did You Discover the HHGTTG?
Definitely a wierd encounter

I was living in Tulsa, OK, having returned from 6 years in North Africa and South America (oil). I discovered National Public Radio quite accidently and one day just happened to tune in for episode 8(Magrethea). I was instantly hooked. Luckily, the station started the whole (12 episodes) series over after it ended so I got to hear the whole thing (and tape it). Oddly, it didn't make much difference that I was repeating the last 4 episodes. In fact I listened over and over to it with various friends I "turned on to it". So much in fact that my children (who were very young at the time, 1980-82) had pieces memorized:
My daughter, on being moved to the top bunk to make room for her recently crib-bound brother said, "down is very nice".
My son, in kindergarten, when misunderstood said "did I say something wrong? Well pardon me for breathing which I don't do anyway so I don't know why I bother to say it Oh god I'm so depressed".

Definitely a wierd encounter
