Loup My mother saw the film and it was one of her favourites.

When I was a little girl I used to see Last of the Mohicans which was later made into a film.

The of most favourite Ancient Roman films are Sparactus and Ben Hur.

i might take the opportunity to mention one of the LDers projects which need a bit of updating [smiley - whistle] and reviving:

the LDers favourite TV series A844256

while the voting scores and updating that was supposed to be done ages ago [smiley - cry] haven't managed to climb up to the top of the "things to do" yet, it's still open for nominations/comments/etc...

there have been quite a few new series on TV since the last postings on that entry... might be worth a few posts there...smiley - smiley

older TV series nominations are welcome of course and you can nominate titles which have been mentioned by others already..smiley - cool

so don't let the date of the last postings put you off... it's still open for business...smiley - ok?! smiley - cool

end of broadcast...smiley - whistle

not completly off topic either actually as some movies have started some successful TV series [buffy being one example] and some TV series have movies inspired from them [the saint, the invaders, mission impossible and the X-Files being a few examples among many]...smiley - cool

smiley - ok now it's the end of my broadcast...smiley - biggrin

talk soon...smiley - surfer

El Cid?
Haven't seen it (was that old Chuck Heston in "epic" mode? Only liked him in Planet Of The Apes smiley - smiley) but El Cid was a real person, he was a mercenary soldier in 11th Century Spain before being killed in a battle with the Moors. He has an epic poem describing (or exaggerating smiley - smiley) his exploits & is thought of as a legendary hero in his native country, a bit like the way we built a mythology around Robin Hood. So if the film was about him, it'd be true(ish) smiley - smiley

& after those mentions of X-Files2, does that mean it IS being made. I always thought a sequel seemed very unlikely.

Thanks Element9inety2wo for the information, yes it was the one with Chuck Heston in Epic Mode.smiley - smiley

It has been a while since they made the first X-files movie. I wonder how long it will take to make.smiley - smiley

The most timeless movie has to be Casablanca. Set in the 2nd World in Moracco it tells of a nightclub owner called Rick who assists in selling exit visas for those who want to escape Nazi Europe and got to the non-occupied countries. Rick meets his former lover, a French resistence fighter woman who he meets again at his night club and wants to obtain an exit visa for her and her husband, also a French resistance fighter. Rick comes from a neutral stance to a supporter of the French resistance movement. One of the most moving moments are when everyone in the Nightclub starts singing the Marseilles which results in the night club being closed down.
