This may just be ok but it does err on the light side which might make it unsuitable for a Guide but?

No no no. Good idea. You might want to change the title of this to something else. Perhaps expand it to "Games to play with a Mills & Boon story", and add a few other things to do? Example, drinking games - a shot every time the word "tremble" is used? That kind of thing.

Also, I think it might benefit from the instructions being bulletpointed or numbered. Makes it clearer. And shorten the example that you came up with. Keep it to a paragraph? That wasy you can exapnd on the article a bit more.

Just a few ideas though.

Yes, numbered instructions .... good idea! Have just done.

Have to think about the intro - making it into a drinking game never occured to me ..... you obviously have lots of experience at these! smiley - cheers

Don't Panic!, but if this is deemed unsuitable for the edited guide may i nab it and feature it in the next CAC column (scouting the guide for non-edited gems) that appears in The Post?

er, if you're wondering what i'm on about, Don't Panic! smiley - biggrin

it's sposed to be a compliment, smiley - ok

I'm not saying there's no way this'll make the EG, btw, just saying i like it and think others will too. smiley - smiley

If it's not used in EG by all means use it in the Post (tell Shazz hi).

Leaving off the Mary Chain was just an oversight!

Believe it or not, I don't drink that much! Just a vivid imagination! smiley - biggrin

Other uses for M&B books could be seeing how long you can read a page out to your granny without either her shouting at you for *such filth* or you dying of embarrassment...

How many Mills & Boon readings in bed at night does it take to stop your partner sleeping with you...

Oh the prospects!

How many books does it take to sink a duck in the local pond?

If donated to, how fast do they disappear from the local charity shop?

I've done all I can to it - in fact interest seemed to be more along the lines of *when is the next story*, so I set up a competition!

Hmmmm.... Myself, I just can't see how this falls under the Edited Guide guidelines, really.

You've kind of done a knock-off, spicy version of some one else's work -- in some genres, that's known as fan fiction, and some consider it borderline copyright infringement, but we'll ignore that issue for the time being.

The bulk of the entry is your own fiction, which (while probably entertaining to some), isn't what the Edited Guide is about.

I'm guess you might find a better audience for this piece with the budding Underguide of h2g2.
