Phil's Photographs...

Phil

Been checking through some of the photos I've taken this year of the night sky and will claim to have photographed the following:
Feb 2003
M42 and M43 - Yes there is a distinct black lane between these two nebula in Orion on the slide. 50mm Lens, 15 Sec fixed tripod exposure from the back garden here.
M45 - The Pleiades. So a picture of the constelation Taurus and it shows M45, just what You need when starting to try and do widefield astrophotography. 50mm Lens, 15 Sec fixed tripod exposure (just starting to see star trailing on this one unlike the one of Orion taken on the same evening).

March 2003
M44 - A photo of M44 and Jupiter taken with my first attempt at something to tack the star motion, a very simple barn door tracker. 50mm Lens, 30sec exposure on the barn door MK1.

The photos were taken with a 35mm SLR camera using Kodak Elite 200 slide film. I do hope to get these and others onto my website when I get round to doing the whole revamp of it that I've got planned in my head.

From the last lot of slides I've just got back I can identify the following - M29 and M39 in Cygnus (as well as a nicely exposed N. American nebula), M13 in Hercules and M57 in Lyra. smiley - smiley )(not at all bad for basic equipment)
Unfortunately the scanning that was done when they were processed was utter crap and so I'll need to get a slide scanner or prints & scans made that way before I can put them online smiley - sadface
