It's great to have you in the marathon. There could be a few cold nights ahead though if the weather ever clears. Lots of smiley - tea and smiley - cake needed.
Thanks for the 'heads up' on your space.

You're welcome. smiley - smiley

I went to see Star Trek Nemesis last night, the 6pm showing.
I got a taxi home, noticing the cold crisp air, and .........smiley - starsmiley - starsmiley - star!!!!!!!

So I dashed in and grabbed my binoculars, keeping my coat and gloves on, pointed straight at Orion and spotted M42 easily.smiley - biggrin

Then before I could start looking for anything else, it started to snow.

smiley - snowball

So, my score so far: 1 {M42}

M76 just below the wonderful Cassiopeia

I make my running total 5 so far. smiley - smiley

I also turned my binoculars on the Pleiades. I never cease to be staggered at the beauty of that cluster.smiley - wow

Oops, posted before I finished.

The Pleiades being M45 takes my total to 6.

Had another look at M42 and logged M43 as well.

That takes my running total to 7.

I might go out again during the next hour when Cancer rises for me.

*if* it stays clear....

Too cloudy tonight smiley - sadface

I forgot to tell you where I am viewing from, smiley - sorry

I live on the extreme east coast of England, on the bank of the River Humber, which flows into the North Sea.

Very exposed to the elements but when we get clear skies it's stunning.smiley - starsmiley - starsmiley - crescentmoon

Well, seeing as how I had nothing better to do on St Valentine's night, and the sky as blessedly clear, and it wasn't too cold, and the smiley - moon wasn't too full, I took my binoculars out for a stroll in my back garden.

smiley - wow

Completely clear, not a cloud in sight, I found M51 the Whirlpool Galaxy, M63 the Sunflower Galaxy, and in Ursa Major: M81 the Spiral Galaxy and M82 the Cigar Galaxy.

Running total 19. smiley - smiley
