Information from the Star Campsite is this: They have "stopped taking group bookings of any sort," even though this is not what the website indicates. In fact they seem to have become very strict, telling me that the only bookings they now take are for "Families & Couples" - whatever that means. And there seems to be much more emphasis on the 'No Noise' rule than I've ever seen before.
If you are still intending to come, and stay at the Star, you MUST book your own pitch. The campsite contact information is on their web site, please see the link provided on the AT'03 page.
I would advise that you book for yourself, or for you and one other person. And not in a group of any sort, so leave that 8 man tent at home!
This also means that I cannot guarantee you the BOGOF vouchers from the campsite, so when you book ask about getting a brochure from them. Failing that I'd act now in acquiring one from the Staffordshire Tourist info board, again see the link on the AT'03 page.
I will be looking for other possible sites in the area, but you are welcome to search for your own accommodation.
More info when I have it...

That's fairly odd. Maybe someone from there's been reading what we plan to do there
I could probably just stay at home and show up at Alton.

I take it they did phone (or e-mail) as it was said that the website seems to say different from what was said.Maybe the person spoken to didnt like the sound of such a large group (it is bigger than ever isn't it?)and we might have more luck booking as several smaller groups?

No I'm not complaining but keeping the fact secret may be difficult,
If all else fails there's a nice campsite on the Isle of Wight that takes groups and it's within walking distance of the beach
