Rivkeh Yankee-Shoes... bashing about the BoE again Posted Sep 3, 2006
I'll know better once I finish a story arc how to illustrate it. I will probably start with black and white, due to lack of resources, and it will either be a strip or a panel.

This is the introduction of Die Böseburg. It could equally serve as the introduction of Hally. I think it's pretty cool. I have some more on how I see Die Böseburg, which I've included at the bottom.
Edits, suggestions, feedback, whatever...
--- Panel 1 ---
Wide, high, far shot.
Bavaria. A high, mountainous ridge. Snow lines the ground, except where a few rocks break the surface.
A figure appears as a black speck towards the back of the frame.
--- Panel 2 ---
Lower, closer shot.
The figure draws closer. We see some more detail - a cloak flapping in the wind, a staff.
--- Panel 3 ---
Ground level shot.
The figure draws closer still, close enough that we can see his lower jaw beneath the hood of his cloak. It is Hallainzil.
--- Panel 4 ---
Close up of Hally looking up.
--- Panel 5 ---
We cut to see what Hally sees, and it is a castle. A truly enormous, Bavarian castle, with a wall surrounding it, dotted with turrets. The only entrance is through a huge doorway, closed by a portcullis in front of two truly massive oak doors.
--- Panel 6 ---
Shot from behind. We see Hally walk towards the door. It starts to slowly open.
--- Panel 7 ---
Same shot. Hally is closer (about two-thirds of the way) to the almost fully open doors. Behind the doors, we see only darkness.
--- Panel 8 ---
Same shot. The doors are fully open. Hally stands on the brink of the darkness.
--- Panel 9 ---
Same shot. Hally is no longer in shot, having entered. The doors are starting to close.
--- Panel 10 ---
Same shot. The doors are full closed.
--- End ---
--- Some stuff I wrote to introduce Die Böseburg ---
*High in the treacherous Bavarian mountains, perched on a ledge, overlooking hundreds of miles in all directions stands Die Böseburg. A large sprawling courtyard encircles the numerous wings of the central keep, each one displaying the different fashions of gothic architecture that had been popular during each wing’s respective construction. It was in essence an odd, yet powerfully boding structure.
It was steeped in history. Not your ordinary names-and-dates kind of history though, oh no. This is the kind of history that holds buildings together, that keeps traditions alive long after their purpose have been outdated and forgotten. The kind of history that creates atmosphere, that creates an essence of awe in the human heart.
The long, convoluted roadway; which slowly, almost reluctantly, led to the castle walls was treacherous; the result of many hundreds of years exposure to cruel unforgiving weather. It, nonetheless, wound its way to its destination, unable to overcome the inevitable.
The looming stone walls, dotted with turrets, are relentless except for a large iron portcullis, hanging ominously in front of two huge oak doors, massive in the true essence of the word.
Slowly, the portcullis is raised before your eyes, and the huge oaken doors swing back, inviting you inwards.*
"Proceed." booms a deep, powerful voice. "You are worthy..."

Veddy nice. Email anything you want me to illustrate to [email protected] I really can't pull stuff off the beeb all the time, and I'd like to circumnavigate complications.

I've sort of recently joined a band and have been doing little else than working and rehearsing. I have thought about little more than sleeping of late, unfortuately.

Yeah, I've been working on it in increments. The problem is, that I have a webcomic launch coming up, and I have a graphic novel I'm illustrating, so unless someone actually works with me on this it probably will take a back burner to whatever I have collaboration on.
If I had a website set up, I could start to post one off comics, but I have no knowledge/energy to set that up just now... although I have some comics done for the BoE.

And he smells nice, too. Mmm.
