Some of our H2g2 friends are planning a cruise -- Amy Pawloski and family, for instance. I guess it beats flying to the Bahamas or Florida. From Boston, you can take a cruise ship to Bermuda -- I have friends who have taken that trip.
No jet lag, you get better food, and your only worry is the occasional rogue hurricane.
But it does sound like a bummer that cruise ships can disrupt ferry schedules.

It's true, they are always making cruise ships bigger, and usually only by an inch or two so that each time a sister ship is launched it benefits from the publicity of being the biggest ship in the world, even though it is pretty much exactly the same size as the last one. They could install a large four in a row game with these round windows in the last photo. (If they haven't already).
I can imagine that it is annoying to have these behemoths destroy the public transport timetable.
We already have people complaining that a certain mainline railway crossing is closed for more than 50% of the time...
