I think hands lend themselves well to black and white photography, as they have plenty of texture for the camera to enjoy. I therefore decided to take a photo of my own hand.
It wasn't easy, as I found when trying to photograph my Vulcan salute A87969208 - my camera does not lend itself to being held with one hand as the shutter button is perfectly positioned for two-handed stability. However, I managed to take something I was satisfied with - my hand is not in a posture that is as relaxed as I had had in mind, but the tones are pleasing.

It's a great photo! And you inspired me to try it myself for an upcoming issue.

Yes, that picture could be of a disabled Vulcan who can't do the Vulcan Salute with his left hand, but weirdly my right hand can only do the Vulcan Salute when I flatten my palm, so there we have it! http://h2g2.com/h2g2/blobs/post_SQ_says_live_long_and_prosper.jpg

Being as modest as I am 
I can do "Spock" fingers live long with both hands.
But! I'd give my right hand to be ambidextrous
