Even an ordinary street corner can produce a decent black and white image on a rainy night. Don't let the weather put you off taking photos! (Especially if you know a place with cobblestones.)

I love the atmosphere in this picture. It makes me want to write another noir story, but I will contain myself...

Also: it reminds me of Pittsburgh, another place with cobblestones.

Funny, my immediate response was to think of the Harry Lime theme (or is it Lyme?).

You can also see Humphrey Bogart, lurking somewhere along the street, with a cigarette in his mouth.

There is something very evocative about this picture. You can just imagine the story to go with it.Something like 'He stepped out of the pub and stood for a while on the wet pavement, outside the pools of light thrown by the street lamps. That was the last time he was seen alive.'

I only visited Pittsburgh once, and I didn't notice the cobblestones at the time, but it makes sense that they would be there. That picture of the building and the cobblestones and the street lights in the rain makes me nostalgic.

Gene Kelley should be dancing his way into the picture any minute. I think I see him now -- no, that's Dick Van Dyke.

Although the second one has already been alotted to Milton Keynes (all of it), years ago. 130+ roundabouts is not fun when using public transport.

I remember when a friend gave me the album that contained the latter song.

Definitely a Film Noir atmosphere in the photo indeed I love the way the traffic lights and street lights are hazy in the rain.

Black and white makes the scene unfamiliar yet familiar at the same time - I'm almost certain I've been there, but I couldn't say exactly where it is

(I know the sign in the Sash Window advertises an Estate Agent but I can't read the sign on the building)

I feel as if I've been there, too. Maybe it's a place that materializes all over the world whenever people like us go out in the rain.

I can't think of songs but how about artists, like Wet,Wet,Wet?

It would be interesting to see how many similar shots we could take all over the world!
