Here's a little 'How To' Entry about a craft I enjoyed doing recently

I love it! The hedgehog is way cute, too.
One thing: please make sure you're clear on the fact that the library reference book in question is a *discarded* library reference book, clearly so marked.
We get Mail from librarians, you know.

Really sweet deco idea!
One question, is the back end of the hedgehog the same shape as the head? Maybe it's just me and my brain's faulty shape-recognition software...
Charity shops can be a good source of cheap not very interesting books too.

Thanks Superfrenchie
Yes the 'back' and 'front' are the same, so you have a free choice at the finishing stage. I have added in mention of 'symmetrical' and I hope that helps you to visualise it better
I have added in mention of charity shops too

Interesting read. I might try it in my spare time (which I seldom have nowadays)
Thicker books might yield something vaguely spherical (probably very hard to finish that though)
An acquaintance of mine makes book sculptures, not just folding, but cutting and tearing as well. (If you are interested see https://boukjevoet.exto.nl/)

This looks like an interesting thing to make.
One question that occurred to me is whether you could recommend this as a pastime for a child or young person. A teenager could make it, but a toddler would destroy it. Perhaps 10 and over?

That is awe-inspiring, that is....I particularly liked the Divine Comedy there. Obviously, this is Olympic-level book art.

At last a use for the plethora of Mills & Boon that infest charity shops!
I know it is petty, but could this be renamed from ' How to Make a Paper Hedgehog' to 'How to Make a Paper Hedgehog' It currently makes filtering Peer Review by <./>RF1?skip=0&show=250&order=subject&dir=0#Guide Entries</.> skewed.

Thanks for the link Caiman Raptor Elk - that is amazing book art! Yes, 300-400 pages makes a nice firm texture in a hemisphere, but bigger books would potentially make something more spherical

Thanks mvp - I added a little bit about how the hedgehog requires patience, so it isn't suitable for young children (or anyone else who would rather be doing something other than folding over and over again!).

"At last a use for the plethora of Mills & Boon that infest charity shops!"
Yes indeed!
Thanks <BB< - not petty at all, as it would have upset other alphabetical orderings within h2g2 if you hadn't spotted that I didn't realise there was a space at the beginning of the title for no reason, but it is fixed now!

I have tweaked the Fold, Fold, Fold section to improve the instructions, as it is a while since I last read this
