In Athens once, our cat attacked a lizard. The lizard dropped its tail and ran away. We came upon the cat still desperately fighting with the flopping tail.
The cat wore an expression akin to that of an actor in a horror movie. 'It won't DIE!'

Think about the animals and insects that have tails. Are there any that have really beautiful tails? Dragonflies and foxes, maybe?
