The cat that appeared in my video A87915009 had a good look at the hedgehog but then pretended it hadn't been looking and just walked past too! Fascinating smiley - laugh

Yes, the poo is a bit of a disadvantage - more than once I've encountered it under foot smiley - yuk It is good to help these creatures out, though - lovely photos smiley - biggrin

We fostered a hedgehog we named Spike in Germany one winter. You should keep them if they are under a certain weight or they won't survive the winter. We dismayed a small animal vet in Cologne or rather his assistants who availed themselves of a bunch of paper towels to exam him. It turned out he had heartworm which the vet cured with a large dose of vitamin C. It stopped him from sneezing. Later we turned him over to the British ambassador near Bonn and later we found out Spike had some babies. That was really good to see.

I remember my brother rescuing a hedgehog and keeping it over the Winter, in a cardboard box full of newspaper. Any attempts to save birds captured by our cats and brought home was pointless, according to my brother and sadly he was right but it didn't stop us both trying at times but he gave up this folly sooner than I did (they always died). We also had one of the cats drop a live mouse in the hall, which immediately ran behind the piano and climbed in the back. I can never remember what happened to it after that.
