not bad as such, because it's a public park and druggies like secrecy smiley - biggrinbut it's the disguarded needles that can be found. I once found one in my front garden under the hedge - my fears of one of my young kids at the time picking it up. Luckily I found it first

Prof, I notice that you are very active here lately, and that your material is usually first-rate. Can I assume that you are feeling better?

I'm a lot better in a sense Paul smiley - smiley a few week back, the "prit nurse" They deal with respiratory issues and the (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)) machine I use. She adjusted the timing set up from 1 sec to 1.5 sec and now I'm not "fighting it" smiley - smiley It would pulse at the wrong time when I was breathing in or out, now it's in time with me. So I'm sleeping 100% better

Thanks matesmiley - smiley

I have a shot of at least fifty Green-bottles (and they are not hanging on the wall but something less appetizing; naturally I won't send you the photograph). I remember in my youth it would be Bluebottles but maybe they are the dominant species in Scotland or the balance has changed in the last twenty years since I lived there

Yes, I’ve definitely seen more greenbottles this year than in the past, and correspondingly fewer bluebottles...

I confess to enjoying the colors of flies as I aim my flyswatter at them smiley - blush. I respect them more more than I used to, though.
In the Arctic, which is too cold for bees, flies take over the pollination chores

I've just sent a rant to the Post about idiots cutting down live trees and expecting them to burn. If it doesn't get accepted will post it here in the Lounge

And yet live trees sometimes burn during forest fires.

Maple, poplar, and cherry trees are less flammable than most conifers.
http://www.readyforwildfire.org/Fire-Safe-Landscaping/

Fire-resistant shrubs include hedging roses, bush honeysuckles, currant, cotoneaster, sumac and shrub apples.

Of course, if a fire is hot enough, it can overcome their defenses.

large, tall trees like Ponderosa Pine are very fire-resistant because its flammable needles are far above the lames. Live oaks, horse chestnuts, American mountain ash, southen magnolia are fire-resistant. The most fire-resistant tyree is the mediterranean Cypress.

But if you really to cut down a tree and burn it immediately, you can try Acacia, bamboo, Douglas Fir, eastern Red Cedar, Palms, Pines, many Junipers, and Arborvitae
